The canal boat Bruce coming up the Blue Mountain Dam at Port Clinton on August 15,1906. The Schuylkill Canal was built as slack-water navigation-- trenches dug for the canal constituted about 50 miles of it's length, while the other 50 miles were made up of dams that were used to back up the water.
