Even before Henry Clay's towering monument had been dragged up South Second Street to its pillar overlooking southeastern Pottsville, Joseph Silver conceived the idea that the site was ideal for the town's first office building. And so he built a row of offices along the side of the hill and connected it with a large terrace, dubbing it the Silver Terrace. Today the Sheaffer Building is on the South Centre Street. |
