The Saint Clair yard of the reading Railroad was opened in 1913. The yard was the largest classified rail yard in the country. In it's heyday it had a capacity of 2,101 cars and a total track length of 46.26 miles. The yard employed 1,020 men and the car shopes were equipped to make all repairs. The roundhouse was large enough to contain fifty-two locomotives. |
